Mayor Tom McMahon, a regular shopper at the Penn Street Market, is setting up a City Hall table from 11:30 until 1 p.m. every Friday. He encourages folks to stop by the market which is located in the 800 block of Penn Street next to the Reading Hospital Dispensary. Penn Street Market is a growers-only market where farmers sell products direct from the farm.

Way-Har Farms will be featuring "first of the season" peach ice cream in cones and to take home in pints and half gallons, along with their other delicious flavors. They even have sugar-free ice cream for those whose diets require limiting sugar. Pick up the farm's bottled milk in three sizes and flavors: pints, quarts, and half gallons, chocolate, white and strawberry, whole skim and 2% milk. Their farm store's baked items will include cheese bread, pies, and other taste-tempting treats.
This week Zimmerman's Family Farms will be featuring: tree-ripened local yellow peaches, blueberries, homegrown sweet corn, plums, bell peppers, green and yellow string beans, tomatoes, red beets, cucumbers, zuchinni, along with the lettuce, potatoes, apples and other fresh produce at They accept Farm Market Nutrition Program coupons.
Kempton dairy farmer Dave Rice is again bringing cage-free brown eggs and natural cheeses in hard and soft varieties. B.A.D. Farm, "where we don't live up to our name," is owned by Beth and Dave Rice. They have six new chees varieties this week: Feta, Bacon Cheddarjack, Colby, Romano, Assiago, and Baby Swiss. They also have three featured cream cheese dips: Keylime, Crazy Cranberry, and Mediterranean Madness.
Greater Reading Chamber's Restaurant of the Week is: Chapman's Deli. They will be bringing their delicious hoagies and sides for lunch from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m.

A new market is scheduled to open in the city of Reading on June 4, 2010. Mayor Tom McMahon will be cutting the ribbon for Penn Street Market at 10:30 a.m. to launch this new farmers’ market location in the downtown business district.
